A leading market research company was conducting a multicounty (Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Morocco, and Madagascar) study and wanted to have the questionnaire, which was initially in English, translated into Swahili, Yoruba, Afrikaans, Arabic, and French.
The client required that the translated text be laid alongside the original text in Excel so the survey scripter could easily use it for quality reviews.
The English questionnaire was uploaded to the Actnable Translation App in Excel format. The app’s easy user interface allows users to select the source and translation languages from a dropdown list. The user can choose the desired language from 132 global languages. The app ensures that the format of the source file remains as is, and the translated text appears to the side of the source text line-by-line. Actnable ‘Human-in-the-loop’ allows users to opt for a Human review for the translation to be checked by the native speaker of the respective native speakers and experts.
Pre-appointed human reviewers check the quality and make the necessary corrections based on accuracy, local language nuance, and cultural sensitivity.
They then upload the files to the platform. Once done, the client receives an email that the file has been checked and corrected, and they can download the final version.
AI translations took around two hours, and a human review took around 24 hours. This brought massive time savings to our client, the process was seamless, and the quality matched their expectations with any losses due to AI translation. They were particularly pleased with the formatting and ease of seeing the translated text next to the original text for quick referencing. It also helped their survey scripting team pick the survey translations easily. Overall, it saved more than 50% on their cost and around 70% on turnaround time.
